This is a character designed by Matt Dunn and used in a Graphic Novel that he had published. Matt is an Australian illustrator who is working hard and creating great work.

D.R and Quinch

This was for a competition I entered on 'Redbubble' For those who don't know D.R and Quinch were created by Alan Moore for the comic 2000AD. They are irresponsible and careless adolescent aliens. A lot like Beavis and Butthead.

Man of Tomorrow- Cover

This is the iconic shot of Superman from the 1940's tearing the roof off of a James Cagney-like getaway car. i have included the black and white painting before colour was applied.

T.h.u.n.d.e.r agents

I have a really old issue of Thunderagents that my dad bought for me in 1983! I love the characters, especially Raven. So I went about creating a cover design.

Dr. Lector

Is there a more predatorial look than that of our dear friend Dr. Lector. This painting is currently residing in the Laidlaw-Grundy residence.

Man of Action - study

Just having a play with the iconic image of the hero ripping open a shirt and exposing the costume, I left it blank to perhaps incorporate a logo later for the cover of an art book.

Golden Age Superman

This is a study I did in Gouache as a building block for the cover art on the 1940's, 'Man of Tomorrow' art I am working on. I wanted to see how it would look with the briefs and the different symbol. I really like the way that the Superman of the 40's had a rougher edge to him. and a lot more solid in the chest area, very much like George Reeves.

A Death in the Family

This image of Joker was just a study I did after re-reading the Death in the Family story with the amazing artwork of Jim Aparo. The Joker just creeps me out because he just has no pattern to his insanity. And clowns are scary.

Captain America - 'The Southern Cross'

This series was started bcause I just loved all of the different Captain outfits and I am a big fan of the character dating back to issue 350. I set this scene in remote western Australia with Captain America's arch foe ' The Red Skull', and a character I created for the story ' The Southern Cross'. This is Pages 1- 6, with two still remaining.

It's always a challenge creating a period piece, it requires research from buildings right down to the right model of car and clothing.

The artwork is set in the 1940's, Metropolis.

Wolverine in Madripoor.

Welcome to my new blog. This is the spot where I'll be showcasing my latest work on my trail as a comic book illustrator.

and what better way to dive into the 'blog world' than with my first stand alone illustration of Wolverine.

I loved the mysterious setting of Patch in Madripoor in those early Wolverine issues I had as a kid and the two villains Bloodsport and Roughhouse drawn by the amazing John Buscema blew my mind. The chinese writing behind Patch means Steel- Man. You might also notice a silhouette on the rooftops, any guesses?
